You Don’t Say: It’s What Isn’t Said As Much As What Is

What an amazing (or terrifying) time to be alive!

In times of change it is natural for fault lines around trust and authoritative voice to rise to the forefront. This is not only due to increased visibility and related stress upon those long buried dynamics. It also happens when we manage fissures ineffectively, and particularly from a place fear. The fear-based approach has the potential to make faults and fissures into rather large craters and chasms pertaining to message, meaning and audience trust. Knowing and ignoring your audience’s fears and core concerns is as bad if not worse than being ignorant of them.

When positioning a topic before an audience, with the goal to convert them to support a cause or position, the worst I can do is start that conversation by detracting from their experience.
